Gregory Thomas posted a statusWelcome! This site was set up to facilitate contact and conversation between the Steam Folks here in Texas (but foreigners are welcome too).
~~ The BLOG function is active again (Ning has better anti-spam now).
Just be sure to verify whether you want to keep it private, just friends or everyone.
~~ Check the 'Latest Activity' feature to keep track of local event posts, current discussions, new members, photos, etc.
~~ The events calendar no longer exists as a discrete entity, so check the Forum for that information. The calendar will be a 'featured' item at the top of the list.
~~ For the new folks and those who wish to keep up with the latest trends, I'd highly recommend the Steampunk Fashion site on LiveJournal. It's a superb source of ideas and inspirations.

Today's small test demonstrated that the IR frequencies I'm working with pass through common window glass quite freely.
Quite useful, since my DIY pass filter is rather flimsy and would require a supporting substrate.

I've been experimenting a bit with using infrared (IR) phototransistors and LEDs as a proximity detector circuit for a possible future project.

If you're looking for LED flashers and such for a project, visit flashingblinkylights

I've recently ordered 5 pieces of a multi-color LED flasher module…
